Australian Data Center interruption - Sun (7/Jun) 11:30am AEST

center provider Primus Telecom experienced a power outage yesterday
(Sun 7/Jun) at approximately 11:30am AEST. This outage did *not* affect
any sites hosted in our North American and European data centers. Due
to this interruption, the operation of some Australian sites was
interrupted and quickly restored as we failed over to our backup
systems. However during this time some customers' access to the
Administration interface of their websites was affected for a longer
period, although their websites continued to operate as normal. This
the first power outage that Primus Telecom have experienced in the last
5.5 years. It was caused by their monthly test of their UPS systems
(uninterruptable power supplies). During the test, Primus failed over
to their UPS successfully but when they switched back to main power,
some power in data center was lost. We will review all our procedures
in the coming days to ensure we minimize impact on customers sites
should a similar outage occur in the future.
